Each SIP panel is custom made for your project
Manufacturing SIP panels is a relatively easy process, but it has to be done right. From the materials we choose, to the machinery we employ, each decision at FischerSIPs is made to ensure a quality product for you. All of our panels are cut on a CNC machine to the exact specifications needed for your project, ensuring your SIPs home or building can be assembled seamlessly. Below learn more about the steps involved to manufacture SIP panels.
Step 1: Foam and OSB is pre-cut according to size then laminated together.
The first step is to attach the foam and OSB together. Depending on the specific needs of the project, the foam comes in different sizes to provide different levels of insulation. The electrical chases are also pre-cut. The foam is run through a laminating machine, which applies a water-based glue to both sides of the foam, activated by a water mister. Then the foam is sandwiched between two pieces of OSB and placed into a vacuum press. The vacuum press uses atmospheric pressure to seal the layers of material together tightly.
Step 2: Each panel is cut with a CNC machine to quickly create openings.
One of the best parts of constructing a home with SIP panels is the ease of assembly. By using a CNC machine, we can make the cuts quickly and save time on site that would have been otherwise spent creating openings or measuring to fit pieces together. So whether it is cutting out openings for doors and windows or cutting pieces to accommodate gables and dormers, each SIP panel arrives ready to use.
Step 3: Panels are made ready-to-assemble.
FischerSIPs offers extensive ready-to-assemble packages, beyond what many SIP manufacturers offer. These packages make it easier for your on-site builders, limiting the number of cuts and pieces they have to assemble. Many builders actually find it cheaper to purchase ready-to-assemble panels because of the time it saves. FischerSIPs can preinstall window and door bucks/window wrapping, SIP connection splines, wall top plates and roof eaves. All of our RTA modifications are made by hand by our experienced team, and each panel is labeled so you know exactly where it goes when it arrives.
Step 4: Panels are prepared for shipping
Once the panels are assembled, they are wrapped in 4 mil plastic. Each stack is labeled with the corresponding panels inside, so you know which panels are in each stack.
